How are our kitesurfing lessons?

  • Classes last 2 hours
  • À la carte: private or in pairs
  • Walkie-talkie radio headset
  • Open water courses
  • Personalized pedagogy
  • Departure in the morning at 9 a.m. or in the afternoon at 1 p.m.
  • Permanent assistance from our boats
  • Photo shoot during the session

My first kitesurfing lessons:

  • While we are offering you a good coffee, we will ask you to fulfill the general conditions which you can also fulfill here.
  • You will tell us about your different experiences in kitesurfing or other hobbies that you practice
  • We will teach you how to choose the right material for your size: vest, helmet, harness, and adjust the straps of the board
  • Then comes a briefing on the operation of the wing (right - left, push and pull the bar)
  • You will trigger the security system and know how to rearm it
  • After loading the boat, we will go to the practice area in 2-3 minutes
  • We will inflate the sail (using an electric inflator ;-))
  • It's time to jump in the water, hang the bar on your harness. The sail placed on the water (at the edge of the window), tows you. Let yourself slide on your stomach and take control with the bar.
  • The radio will be attached to your helmet, so you will have permanent contact as well as advice with the monitor
  • A few minutes will suffice to understand how to take off your sail and make 8s.
  • You're now doing a towed swim!
Each person progresses differently, there is no typical progression.
  • Discovery of the power zone, window edge, zenith, take-off when the sail falls.
  • The size of the spot allows us to descend the wind in safety for more than 1 hour, so that you can do the exercises quickly: towed swim, oriented towed swim, stabilize your sail with one hand.
  • Once you arrive at the bottom of the zone, that the wind has brought us closer to the shore, we will deflate the sail and you will climb back into the boat by the ladder located at the rear of the boat. A few minutes later we will be back to the starting point, you will be able to rest and drink a little fresh water! We will also have taken the time to talk about your first sensations!
  • The main objective of the first course is the mastery of the kite, otherwise it will be difficult to get on the board.
  • Second descent, we continue the towed swimming exercises, or we perfect them!
  • Then comes the time to use the board: the big part.
  • Ideally we break down the lens: we leave the sail on the window sill, we place the board in front of us, crosswise, we slide our feet in the straps, our shoulders behind.
  • Here we are ready for water start: I keep the pressure on the board, I launch my sail on the same instructions as the towed swimming exercises, I accept the traction of the sail and I let climb on the board.
  • The monitor will be close enough to you to capture every moment your progress with your GoPro or our camera.
  • The balance is precarious but you will start the first slides, you have to manage the kite and the board!
  • Coordinate the movements well, if I decide to start my kite on the right then my right foot goes in front.
  • After 2 intense hours, it's time to stop, digest all the information, the sensations ...
  • Back on land, unloading from the boat, where a shower is available to rinse
  • Debriefing, what worked, what didn't work, then the goal of the next session.
  • Finally, a little rum to rinse your mouth before going for a good nap

"Already been there?"

Of course, if you are already experienced then we will be able to adapt to you, do not hesitate to leave a comment during your reservation. If you were on the board the last session then we will resume there.

Following Lessons:

  • All the courses start with a briefing around a coffee, we will then set the goals, and answer all the questions.
  • There is no magic technique that allows you to get there the first time, but we strive to offer you the one that will be most suitable.
  • Choice of material, belt or breech harness, waistcoat, helmet, radio, sail size, board size. Adjusting the straps.
  • Loading the boat, then moving to the navigation area
  • Inflating and taking off the sail
  • Takeover of the kite and the board
  • Here we are again on the board, generally we each have a favorite side; goofy or regular (right or left foot in front).
  • Once gliding you have to relax, look far ahead, as always let the traction of the sail in the harness. Lean straight back and open your shoulders in the desired direction.
  • We will learn to adjust the trim, to navigate efficiently and cleanly (and with style!)
  • Going upwind is not difficult, it requires little effort, and technique
  • Transitions, jumps, kite loops, back loops, front loops ... etc so much to learn ...
  • End of course after 2 hours of navigation, return to shore
  • Debriefing (and Caribbean rum of course ;)

How to succeed my kitesurfing lesson:

  1. Motivation! Above all, this is the biggest success factor
  2. Be in good shape: if you have been partying until late at night or just a little sick, it is better to postpone the course.
  3. Bring with you: sunscreen, Lycra, sunglasses with strap, water bottle and cereal bar
  4. Do not hesitate to watch tutorials on the internet. There is good and bad, and we can discuss it during the briefing
  5. Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the course
